New study on tobacco farming in Lao PDR

We are proud to announce that Lao Social Research has been selected to design and conduct a comprehensive field survey on the socio-economic conditions of tobacco-growing farmers in Lao PDR.

Commissioned by UNDP, this study will inform tobacco policy dialogue and explore feasible alternative crop and livelihood options.

With tobacco taxes currently accounting for 18.8% of the retail price—below the WHO’s recommended 75%—our research will explore potential alternatives that benefit both farmers and public health.
